Position DetailsPosition: Rebuild Mechanic
Pay Rate: Competitive hourly wage (depending on experience) + safety bonus
Schedule: 4 on 3 off, 10‑hour shifts, days only. OT available
Area: Northern Nevada – Battle Mountain
GeneralPosition Overview
Under the direction of the site master mechanic, heavy equipment rebuild mechanics are responsible for rebuilding and/or performing major repairs on mobile and stationary equipment.
The fleet includes, but is not limited to:
- Caterpillar – Articulated Dump Trucks, LHD Loaders, Large Wheel Loaders, Dozers, Skip Loaders
- Sandvik – Jumbo Drills, Rock Bolters, LHD Loaders, Articulated Dump Trucks
- Atlas Copco/Epiroc – Jumbo Drills, Rock Bolters, LHD Loaders
- Getman – Explosives Trucks, Lube Trucks
- JLG Skytrak – Forklifts
- Cubex – Long Hole Drills
- Various Man Carriers and Tractors
Our rebuild mechanics conduct audits, build scopes of work, and create bills of material. The position requires the ability to replace major components, replace hosing, replace/build wire harnesses, and perform various other repairs with a high level of quality, following guidelines from OEMs and SMD’s standards. Data entry into the CMMS is required.
Experience and Qualification Requirements- Work with a safety‑first mindset and maintain situational awareness at all times.
- Experience maintaining Sandvik drilling and haulage equipment, Epiroc drilling and haulage equipment, and Caterpillar surface and underground equipment.
- Proficient in interpreting electrical and hydraulic schematics, and able to redline or draft complete schematics.
- Competent with the use of service, parts, and operator’s manuals—both digital and paper.
- Knowledge and understanding of all underground (hard rock) mining equipment applications.
- Ability to lift a minimum of 50 lbs. and work in year‑round weather conditions.
- Knowledge and experience with diagnostic software.
- Experience with fluid power diagnostics.
- Experience with OEM and retrofit emissions products such as passive DPFs, active DPFs, and SCR systems.
- Ability to weld and use a cutting torch.
- Ability to align bore and air arc.
- Experience with gas analyzer.
- Understanding of oil analysis and results.
