Utility Systems Technician Trainee, Technician , or Technician II

Douglas County Public Works Water Utility Division is seeking to fill a vacancy for a Utilities System Technician

This position plays a vital public-service role by ensuring our community has safe, reliable, and properly maintained water utility services. Requiring a dependable and safety-conscious individual with a commitment to maintaining high standards of service, the Utility Systems Technician ensures the efficient operation, maintenance, and repairs of the water treatment, distribution, and collection systems that serve the residents of Douglas County.

Demonstrating strong communications skills, accountability, and customer-service, the ideal candidate for this hands‑on water utility maintenance position will be someone who can contribute effectively as part of a larger team dedicated to providing these essential public services.

This vacancy may be filled at a Technician Trainee, Technician I, or Technician II level depending on candidate qualifications and experience. Pay Range:

• Utility Systems Technician Trainee: $24.48 - $31.84
• Utility Systems Technician I: $28.00 - $39.20
• Utility Systems Technician II: $33.42 - $46.79

Performs basic level work maintaining County’s water and sewage treatment plants and distribution systems to maintain safe and great tasting water to county residents. Checking all system wells, tanks and booster stations, while maintaining site cleanliness and repair meter pits when needs arrive. Marking all underground utilities for water system; performs related tasks as apparent or assigned.

• High School diploma or GED and one (1) year of experience with basic plumbing and/or construction knowledge; OR an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

• Valid Driver's License
• Obtain one (1) of the following State of Nevada certifications within
  18 months of date of employment:
  Grade I Wastewater Treatment Operator, Grade I Water Distribution Operator, Grade I Water Treatment Operator
