Substitute School Bus Driver

Amargosa, Beatty, Pahrump, Round Mountain & Tonopah Areas

Transportation Office: On-call

Funding Source: General Fund Hourly Rate: $20.10 per hour

Serve as a substitute for a regular support staff employee during absences. Provide safe and efficient transportation for District students. The position includes training to obtain the NV Class B CDL with passenger endorsement and NV Dept. of Education endorsement. NCSD will pay the hourly rate during training, total 40 hours. NCSD will reimburse license application fees and the physical exam.

In exchange, the driver signs a 24‑month contract. Substitute positions may become full‑time.

Will be driving NCSD school buses/vehicles and provided with necessary supplies to carry out the position duties.

• Minimum high school diploma or equivalent
• Pass reference check, mandatory fingerprint background check, and drug and alcohol testing
• At least 21 years of age
• Read and speak English sufficiently to converse with general public, understand highway traffic signs, respond to official inquiries, and make entries on reports and records
• Physically qualified to drive a school bus in accordance with FMCSA Physical Qualifications and Examinations
• Current valid Class B CDL license issued by Nevada or a border state with Passenger (P) and School Bus (S) endorsement
• Provide list of all FMCSA violations as required
