Containerized Waste Processing Tech

POSITION SUMMARY

The Processing Technician ensures safe, effective treatment and handling of containerized wastes by properly receiving, screening, unloading, treating and tracking incoming waste streams and outgoing residuals.

• Reviews, signs, and processes incoming manifests, noting any discrepancies.
• Directs off‑loading operations for receipt of primarily non-bulk containers into the facility’s storage systems for process and handling.
• Uses handheld bar code scanner as the primary internal record‑keeping system to ensure the safe, effective handling and inventory of containerized wastes.
• Operates forklift to facilitate handling of all non‑bulk containerized wastes.
• Collects and analyzes waste samples; consolidates like‑wastes wherever possible to improve economic outcomes.
• Stores waste containers properly in all designated plant storage areas.
• Assists in the generation of internal bar code labels and accurately places them on all containers as they are received.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

• Ability to use light equipment such as forklift and pallet‑jack.
• Basic knowledge of computer operations for using handheld scanners.
• Skilled with hand and shop tools.
• Demonstrates accuracy, thoroughness, and attention to detail.
• Can prioritize, stay focused, and handle multiple, diverse responsibilities.

$18.90 to $26.02 per hour, varying by locality.
