ADMISSIONS & RECRUITMENT (SE-ADMS-IUSEA)
This counselor's primary responsibility is to recruit college-bound high school students for undergraduate programs. In addition to outreach to Louisville and Southern Indiana‑area school students, this counselor will recruit students from throughout Kentucky/Indiana and select schools within our regional recruitment territory.
Department‑Specific Responsibilities- Supports strategic transfer recruitment initiatives through relationship development with regional community and technical colleges and assistance with transfer student outreach and enrollment efforts as assigned.
- Provides comprehensive admission and enrollment information to prospective students, their parent(s), transfer students, and other interested parties as needed.
- Primary point of contact for prospective students; familiar with the financial aid process and the many student‑support services available to students.
- Maintains professional relationships with high school guidance counselors and representatives from peer institutions, including regional community and technical colleges and other universities.
- In an enrollment capacity, evaluates application materials, including transcripts and ACT/SAT/GED score reports. When needed, assists working with transfer and non‑traditional students for select academic programs and enrollment initiatives.
- Maintains active contact with prospective students from inquiry through enrollment.
- Attends college fairs, transfer events, and other recruitment activities and provides information about the University (academic programs, campus life, transfer pathways).
- Develops and maintains relationships with representatives of various educational institutions, especially high‑school guidance counselors and regional community and technical college partners.
- Supports transfer recruitment and outreach efforts assigned, including engagement with prospective transfer students.
- Reviews academic transcripts of incoming transfer students.
- Analyzes demographic data to assess recruiting outcomes.
- Serves as liaison to select academic area(s) and/or other University department(s).
- Participates in specific on‑ and off‑campus recruitment and community events.
- Performs miscellaneous job‑related duties as assigned.
- Ability to effectively communicate with and solve problems for varied groups, including prospective or current students, fellow counselors, support staff, alumni, and other constituencies.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in an environment characterized by large workloads, deadline pressures, and high‑performance standards.
- Maintains, implements, and oversees a holistic recruitment‑yield tactical plan.
- Develops, implements, and administers plans, programs, and events for general and targeted student recruitment in support of organizational goals.
- Integrates strategic communications strategy in collaboration with other departments, geared toward specific student declared academic major, career interests, and geographic factors.
- Identifies and develops partnerships for outreach to prospective students and influencers.
- Interprets academic policies and exercises authority and independent judgment.
- Plans, implements, and evaluates programs and processes and determines the effectiveness of markets and strategies. Exercises independent judgment and uses census data and modeling tools to identify effective marketing plans and strategies to address specific populations.
- Serves in a collaborative role with internal and external stakeholders to identify targets of opportunity to attract and enroll under‑represented populations. Participates in the assessment and evaluation of various models.
- Bachelor's degree in business, public policy, or related field.
