Job Summary
Provide technical support for computer Energy Management (EMS) Systems or Supervisory Control & Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems and other technical infrastructure used in Transmission Operations centers. Position requires a high degree of adaptability, and a focus on meeting customer needs and continuous improvement in the systems supported.
Protection and Control SCADAProvide technical support to Protection and Control Engineering (PCE) SCADA Standards and Production activities related to AEP Transmission. Assist in standards development, scoping, RTU setting creation, and implementation troubleshooting. A high ability to organize and coordinate customer needs will be required.
What you’ll do- Provide support/guidance in all Network Model Updates that affect the real‑time state estimator system.
- Maintain reliable operations of the DMS/EMS model systems.
- Improve and recommend enhancements to improve the quality and reliability of DMS/EMS model data.
- Keep DMS/EMS and SCADA tools current with existing technologies and recommend internal DMS/EMS and SCADA model standards.
- Define and implement Human Performance Initiative rules and Key Performance Indicators around EMS SE Model updates.
- Identify issues with processes and tools and propose possible solutions, providing input to more experienced personnel.
DMS/EMS/SCADA Analyst Associate SG5
- Associate’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications or related technical field, or high school diploma with two years of related military or electric utility technical experience.
- No prior experience required with the above education.
DMS/EMS/SCADA Analyst SG6
- Associate’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications or related technical field, or high school diploma with two years of related military or electric utility technical experience.
- Two (2) years of DMS/EMS/SCADA experience with an associate’s degree and four (4) years of experience with a high school diploma.
- Preferable bachelor’s degree with no DMS/EMS/SCADA experience may be considered for entry.
- Detailed knowledge required in one of the following areas:
Application development, Operating System support, Computer system administration, Database technologies and support. - Strong communication, issue resolution, organization, and facilitation skills.
- Provide after‑hours support for the EMS/SCADA systems as needed and begin to gain understanding of current technology utilized by AEP, Protection and Control applications, and substation equipment under senior guidance.
This role sits on site in New Albany, Ohio or Corpus Christi, Texas.
CompensationDMS/EMS/SCADA Analyst Associate SG5: $63,496 – $79,369 per year.
DMS/EMS/SCADA Analyst SG6: $74,551 – $93,188 per year.
