Lab Coordinator

Job Description

The Lab Coordinator supports construction materials testing operations within a laboratory environment, focusing on testing concrete for slump, density, and moisture. This entry-level role offers hands-on training and growth opportunities while contributing to accurate testing, reporting, and communication with project teams. The position emphasizes safety, organization, and clear documentation to support construction quality and compliance.

Responsibilities

Conduct laboratory testing on concrete materials, including slump, density, and moisture testing.

Communicate with project managers, engineering technicians, clients, and contractor representatives regarding testing requirements and results.

Transport material samples with proper documentation to the laboratory for analysis.

Tabulate, prepare, and submit accurate written and digital reports of data and observations for daily review by the Project Manager.

Maintain and clean laboratory equipment, vehicles, and work spaces to ensure safe and efficient operations.

Assist with scheduling and dispatching technicians to job sites as needed.

Adhere to strict safety standards and procedures at all times.

Document findings and test results clearly and accurately.

Participate in ongoing training and take on increasing responsibility as experience grows.

Essential Skills

Experience working in a laboratory environment.

Familiarity with construction materials testing procedures.

Proficiency in using Lab Tab or similar laboratory data systems.

Strong attention to detail and ability to accurately document results.

Ability to communicate effectively with team members and external stakeholders.

Understanding of safety practices within a lab or construction materials setting.

Additional

Skills & Qualifications

ACI certification (preferred).

Experience performing slump tests, nuclear density gauge testing, or asphalt testing.

Previous experience in a materials testing lab environment.

Ability to grow within the organization and take on additional responsibilities over time.

Strong organizational and time management skills.

Work Environment

This position is based in a laboratory setting with consistent, predictable hours. The work environment is stable and not impacted by weather conditions, allowing for reliable scheduling. The role involves hands-on testing, sample handling, data entry, and collaboration with internal and external teams. The environment emphasizes safety, accuracy, and continuous learning, with opportunities for advancement within the company.

This is a Contract position based in a laboratory setting (location dependent on assignment).

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $25.00/hour.
