Job Description & How to Apply Below

Description

The Senior Infrastructure Engineer is a hands‑on, elite technical generalist responsible for solving Brook & Whittle's infrastructure problems wherever they occur: servers, networking, cloud, or Dev Ops. This is a deeply technical role built for someone who can be handed any infrastructure problem and own it through to resolution without being routed to a specialist.

Reporting to the IT Infrastructure Manager, this role works alongside an experienced team of infrastructure professionals supporting Microsoft 365, Azure, AWS, hybrid identity, multi‑vendor networking, and core enterprise systems across multiple North American manufacturing facilities. The Senior Infrastructure Engineer brings enterprise‑level foresight to everything they build: standardized, scalable, documented, and repeatable, not one‑off fixes that only the builder can maintain.

This role supports both corporate‑office and manufacturing shop‑floor environments, where downtime can directly impact production, shipping, customer service, and revenue. The ideal candidate is a technically elite infrastructure generalist who can diagnose and resolve problems across diverse and unfamiliar systems, catch risk before it becomes an incident, and build infrastructure with the discipline and scale of thinking an enterprise organization requires.

This is a HYBRID position and will report into our New Albany, IN location 3-4 times a week

Requirements

  • Operate as a top‑tier, cross‑domain contributor across servers, networking, cloud, identity, and Dev Ops, capable of taking on any infrastructure problem handed to you and owning it through to resolution without needing to be routed to a specialist.
  • Administer and troubleshoot core infrastructure:
Windows Server (physical, virtual, and cloud‑based), hybrid Active Directory / Entra , Microsoft 365 (Exchange Online, SharePoint, Teams), Microsoft Azure, DNS/DHCP, and multi‑vendor networking (LAN/WAN, firewalls, VPNs, routing, switching).
  • Work hands‑on with automation tooling: CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure‑as‑code, and scripted deployment and configuration management, in addition to endpoint and access tooling including Crowd Strike, Cloudflare Zero Trust, and Action1 patch management.
  • Support infrastructure across corporate‑office and manufacturing shop‑floor environments, understanding that downtime in these environments can directly affect production, shipping, and customer commitments.
Enterprise Foresight & Resource Building
  • Design and build infrastructure resources the way an enterprise organization needs them built: standardized, scalable, documented, and repeatable, not one‑off fixes that only the builder can maintain.
  • Identify and elevate potential problem areas before they become incidents. This role is expected to catch risk early and build the safeguards that prevent it from recurring, not just respond well after something breaks.
  • Operate effectively in ambiguous or undocumented situations: diagnose and resolve issues on systems without a playbook, then build the documentation and structure so the next person has one.
  • Exercise sound judgment on prioritization when demands compete, with particular attention to production, fulfillment, and billing impact.
Cross‑Site & Cross‑Functional Collaboration
  • Communicate infrastructure status, risk, and constraints clearly to both technical peers and non‑technical stakeholders, without waiting to be asked.
  • Work across facilities and functional teams (Support, Cybersecurity, Software Engineering) with clear handoffs, knowing where personal ownership ends and another team's begins.
  • Support integration of acquired facilities onto standard technology platforms.
Documentation, Automation & Project Leadership
  • Develop and maintain documentation for infrastructure systems and configurations; close existing documentation gaps across the environment as you touch them.
  • Build automation that reduces manual effort, improves consistency, and prevents recurring service interruptions, applying Dev Ops practices to infrastructure operations rather than treating automation as a side project.
  • Lead and execute infrastructure projects and initiatives, including migrations,…
