Overview

Kennametal has an immediate opening for a dependable CNC Machinist to work at its manufacturing site located in New Albany, IN. The facility is a clean, temperature-controlled, and organized shop with many machines less than 10 years old. Shift: 2nd shift, Monday
- Friday, 3:00 PM – 11:30 PM • $1.00/hour shift differential

Responsibilities
  • Load, unload, start/stop and operate vacuum furnaces.
  • Remove braze/HT loads from furnaces, break down downloads, and deliver product to designated departments.
  • Follow established procedures for running and checking furnaces to ensure all systems operate correctly.
  • Maintain heat run sheets and file reports as required.
  • Scan in correct information using the MII platform. Perform routine furnace maintenance (TPM/PM checklist).
  • May assist with braze/HT setup, grit blasting, breakdown and other related duties as needed.
  • Commit to safe work practices and follow all safety procedures.
  • Operate furnaces according to written procedures updated by technology or management; implement changes as needed with correct programs.
  • Address deviations in routine according to operating procedures and work instructions.
  • Ensure product is processed according to proper routings, specifications, and quantity/quality requirements.
  • Work to meet daily departmental production goals and communicate safety, quality, and product issues with supervisor and across shifts.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 2-year technical degree preferred
  • Experience in an environment with controlled temperatures and dust collection systems
  • Exposure to heat when unloading furnaces
  • Safety glasses with side shields required
  • Safety metatarsal shoes required
  • Sleeves, heat- and cut-resistant gloves, and forced-air units when necessary
Experience & Physical Demands
  • Approximately 8 hours standing with two 10-minute break opportunities per shift
  • Intermittent walking, reaching or lifting above shoulder height, sitting and bending
  • Lifting up to 33 pounds
Problem Solving
  • Follow control plans and instructions
  • Identify unusual problems and take appropriate actions
  • Use latitude to resolve problems not covered by established guidelines
  • Supervisor or team lead available for assistance
