DescriptionAmerican Traveler is hiring a Night Shift RN for an Observation Unit position, no experience required, with an active IN or compact RN license.
Details- 32-bed Observation Unit affiliated with the Emergency Department for patients expected to stay less than 24 hours
- Patient mix includes chest pain, cardiac arrhythmias, heart catheterizations, laparoscopic cholecystectomies, UTIs, and DVTs
- Provider on-site daily from 7a-5p
- 12-hour shifts, 3 days per week, 36 hours weekly
- 0.9 FTE position
- Active, unrestricted RN license (IN or compact) required
- BLS certification required
- ACLS certification required
- ADN or ASN required; BSN preferred
- No prior experience required
- Proficiency in medication administration, wound care, IV therapy, and use of medical equipment
- Strong assessment, critical thinking, and prioritization skills in a fast-paced environment
- Effective communication skills for collaborating with interdisciplinary teams and patient families
- Perform comprehensive patient assessments and document according to scope of practice and hospital policy
- Coordinate admission, transfer, and discharge activities including discharge teaching and case management coordination
- Deliver individualized, patient- and family-centered care and education
- Set priorities for care of multiple patients based on acuity and delegate tasks appropriately to team members
- Participate in unit-based quality improvement activities such as patient satisfaction, falls prevention, and documentation audits
- Promote a positive, healing environment through evidence-based nursing practice
