- The RN Team Lead Practice provides clinical leadership and oversight for patient care delivery while supporting staff development, operational efficiency, and quality outcomes.
- This role serves as a clinical resource, mentor, and team leader to ensure high-quality, patient-centered care across assigned areas.
- The RN Team Lead Practice Supports Carilion Clinic’s hallmarks of service excellence and quality in all job responsibilities.
- Serves as a team leader, clinical resource, mentor, and role model for staff.
- Provides direct patient care and coordinates care delivery for patients of all ages.
- Assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates patient care to achieve optimal outcomes.
- Leads and mobilizes the care team to support positive patient outcomes.
- Facilitates effective communication and resolves operational issues within the work group.
- Supports staff development through coaching, mentoring, and performance feedback.
- Participates in performance evaluations and contributes to development planning.
- Assists with staffing, scheduling, and workload distribution to ensure adequate coverage.
- Collaborates with leadership on fiscal management, resource allocation, and budget considerations.
- Participates in performance improvement, patient satisfaction, and quality initiatives.
- Conducts team meetings and promotes a positive, accountable work environment.
- Ensures compliance with regulatory, licensure, and accreditation standards.
- Communicates effectively with patients, families, staff, and interdisciplinary teams.
- Maintains confidentiality and exercises sound judgment in handling sensitive information.
- Supports organizational initiatives and adapts to changing priorities.
- Responds to staffing needs, including supporting other Carilion facilities as required.
Education:
Graduate of a State Board of Nursing approved program required.
- Experience:
Minimum of 1 year of clinical experience required with demonstrated clinical and leadership expertise required. - Licensure, Certification, and/or Registration:
Current Registered Nurse license in the Commonwealth of Virginia required. - For Behavioral Health roles, de-escalation training must be completed within the required timeframe.
- Life Support: AHA BLS-HCP required.
- ACLS, PALS, or NRP may be required based on assigned work area.

Minimum Qualifications:
Demonstrated leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills. - Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Must successfully complete orientation and competency validation.
- Ability to manage challenging patient situations as appropriate to role.

Compensation Range: $30.47 - $45.71 Employee pay is based on a variety of factors, including qualifications, credentials, education, and prior work experience. The compensation range does not include benefits or pension plan.
