Our client is a privately owned two-location small animal (canine/feline) hospital operating as one integrated practice, seeking an Associate Veterinarian to join their collaborative team. Both locations are AAHA accredited and work seamlessly together, sharing staff, systems, and a unified mission focused on lifelong patient care.
Both practices operate Monday to Friday and are approximately 10 minutes apart. Full-time veterinarians typically work four days per week, averaging 35–40 hours, with no nights, no on-call, and no weekends. Doctors are typically scheduled at one primary location, but may expect to work at either on occasion. Doctors are typically scheduled for either procedures or appointments on a given day to maintain focus and efficiency.
Role Description and ResponsibilitiesThe role includes providing wellness care, performing blood tests, diagnostics, cardiovascular exams, dentistry, surgery, ultrasound, and advanced diagnostic imaging. The practice offers in-house ultrasound and echocardiography. The owners are enthusiastic about supporting a veterinarian who wishes to expand or introduce specific services such as orthopedic/advanced surgery, dentistry, endoscopy, or other clinical interests. The environment is mentorship-focused, with both owners enjoying teaching and supporting professional growth - dentistry, soft tissue surgery, and ultrasound/echocardiography are specific areas of expertise for mentorship.
The ideal candidate would have one to three years of experience, although experience requirements are flexible depending on fit.
The larger New Albany location serves as the primary site for major diagnostics, surgery, and dentistry, while the Jeffersonville location functions as a satellite with inpatient capabilities. Equipment includes digital radiography, ultrasound with six probes at the main location and a smaller ultrasound at the second location, chemistry analyzers, hematology at the primary location, in‑house urine cultures, two high‑end IM3 dental units with lift tables, digital dental radiography, therapy laser, advanced radiosurgery at both offices, and a comprehensive electronic medical records system with detailed patient intake forms.
Services include wellness care, wellness membership plans, blood testing, surgery, dentistry, diagnostic imaging, physical therapy, nutritional support, cardiovascular exams, ultrasound, echocardiography, and advanced surgical procedures including radiosurgery. The culture emphasizes patient education, clear communication, mutual trust, and a family‑focused approach to care. Staff expertise includes advanced training in diagnostics and dentistry, and the team prides itself on creating a supportive and enjoyable workplace environment.
The practice has four veterinarians supported by a strong technical team with a 2:1 technician‑to‑doctor ratio. There are three registered technicians, along with multiple non‑registered technicians. The average tenure of support staff exceeds three years, with some team members having been with the practice for over eight years, reflecting low turnover and a stable, collaborative environment and a team that values taking care of each other and treating people well.
