Target Security Specialist

Starting Hourly Rate / Salario por Hora Inicial: $17.50 USD per hour

Assets Protection (AP) teams protect guests, team members, and the Target brand by mitigating theft, fraud, and other security risks. They respond to incidents, support store operations, and collaborate with law enforcement and internal stakeholders to maintain a safe shopping environment.

• Use intelligence‑led tactics to keep team members and guests safe and secure.
• Respond to crises, manage crowds, and provide assistance to guests and team members.
• Apply de‑escalation techniques and utilize physical security controls.
• Operate Target’s video surveillance system to monitor activities.
• Timely and accurately document cases using the case‑management system.
• Assist guests through greeting, product location, issue resolution, and courteous transaction closure.
• Support peers and maintain a positive, respectful attitude in all interactions.
• Promote a culture of safety by assessing and enforcing secure store standards, including exterior property.
• Conduct merchandise theft recoveries and assist in apprehension when appropriate.
• Perform merchandise receipt checks, recognize and report shortage trends, and adhere to AP policies.
• Ensure compliance with safety policies, best practices, and training requirements.
• Perform any other duties related to business needs or security operations.

• Minimum age 18 with a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Compliance with all state and local licensure or legal requirements.
• Friendly, helpful demeanor toward guests and team members.
• Ability to communicate on multiple frequency devices and operate handheld scanners.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Capacity to work independently and as part of a team.
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize tasks.
• Remain focused and composed in fast‑paced environments while completing multiple tasks.
• Physical ability to climb ladders and move merchandise up to 40 pounds without assistance.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, holidays, and peak shopping periods.
• Comfortable working in varying temperatures, humidity, and other environmental conditions.
• Maintain mobility throughout the scheduled shift.
