Youth Counselor Supervisor

Youth Counselor Supervisors play an important part on this team and within our Community. As a Youth Counselor Supervisor, you will have the opportunity to mentor and work directly with youth, guiding, teaching and supporting them in daily life while supporting other youth workers in a residential setting.

Supervisors will help support the team through ongoing coaching and evaluation with Youth Counselors, to promote growth and support within the organization. Supervisors will receive training in Trauma Informed Treatment:
Restorative Approach to oversee Restorative Task assignments with youth. Youth Counselor Supervisors will work with staff and youth to help support a safe living environment through daily adherence and oversight of the environment of care responsibilities.

Wednesday – Saturday, 2nd shift (4 PM – 12 AM), approximately thirty-two (32) hours per week.

This position participates in an on-call rotation and responds to crisis situations.

Pay: $20.00/hour

In this role you will receive certifications and training that will increase your skill set in many areas relevant to human services. Open Door recognizes the challenging work of Youth Counselors by providing additional supports to all staff through regular coaching check-ins and ongoing self-care training.

• Youth Counselor Supervisors will gain knowledge of Open Door’s standards to ensure environment of care responsibilities of youth and staff are complete.
• Gain knowledge of the Trauma-Informed Treatment:
  Restorative Approach, to oversee task assignments of residents and understand restorative practices.
• Perform coaching/evaluation with Youth Counselors to promote growth and support.
• Welcome and complete intakes for new residents, and discharge residents as outlined in policies and procedures.
• Get to know the lives and circumstances of residents, and use this to build therapeutic, individualized relationships with residents.
• Interact with residents, modeling and promoting positive, appropriate behavior and boundaries.
• Supervise and mentor residents in various situations and daily activities, including transportation to work, appointments, court hearings, etc.; dispense medication per physician’s orders, assist with independent living skills, oversee outings and special activities.
• Regularly and professionally complete documentation on each resident’s daily progress note, contacts with family, and staff log.
• Oversee and encourage resident contact with family, including phone calls and personal visits.
• Attend staff meetings and trainings and provide open communication and suggestions for improvements.
• Communicate regularly and openly with supervisors and fellow staff regarding policies, processes, and residents’ behavior.
• Communicate effectively and professionally with parents, other service providers, fellow staff, and other adults.
• Performs related duties as assigned.

• Applicants must be 21 years old and must have a high school diploma or equivalency.
• Applicants must have a driver's license and vehicle insurance.
• Upon hire, candidates must complete employee file requirements (outlined by the Office Manager) and must obtain a CPR & First Aid Certification, which will be provided by the organization.
