Engineer Associate- Engineer ( Station Engineer

Responsible to the assigned supervisor for performing entry level engineering work activities and projects requiring the application of engineering knowledge in a safe, effective, efficient, and economic manner to accomplish assigned objectives.

What You’ll Do:

• Technical Expertise:
  Exhibits advanced level proficiency and advanced knowledge of a specialized technical area that enables the engineer to serve as a resource for the company in areas such as system production, underground systems, extensive control systems, thermo‑hydraulic control systems, distribution standards, fossil or nuclear plant operations, etc.
• Leadership & Guidance:
  Influences the direction of thinking throughout the organizational unit as a recognized authority. Leads, facilitates, and coordinates work activities of others, acting as project or function manager for assigned tasks.
• Planning & Organization Ability:
  Develops, recommends, and implements plans including scheduling, resource, and cost information to address complex engineering problems that require input from a wide array of internal and external entities.
• Problem Solving & Initiative:
  Identifies, clarifies, resolves, and initiates solutions to complex problems requiring multi‑functional interfacing and multi‑disciplined analytical techniques. Develops opportunities and new ideas that have system‑wide impact.
• Communication:
  Leads in the preparation and presentation of complex technical subjects, clearly, concisely, and persuasively, bringing ancillary issues to senior management, professional organizations, regulatory bodies, etc.
• Interpersonal
  
  Skills:
  
  Builds teams and networks across AEP, other companies, professional organizations, regulatory agencies, and academia.
• Decision Making:
  Makes technical decisions based on calculated risks without management review; affects long‑range plans and goals based on analysis of highly uncertain input.

  Demonstrates vision in identifying business opportunities and understands how strategies impact relationships with customers and suppliers.

What We’re Looking For:

• Entry‑level Engineer (Associate) – Bachelor’s degree in an ABET‑accredited engineering program. Passing the Fundamentals of Engineering examination is encouraged and preferred.
• Higher‑level Engineers – Increased educational, skill, experience, and certification requirements. Employers may waive the ABET requirement for non‑ABET accredited programs at VP level or above.

On‑Site in New Albany, OH.

Engineer Associate: $84,000. Engineer: $86,000 – $105,000.

The Physical Demand Level for this job is S – Sedentary. Work may involve exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible force frequently. Walking or standing may be required occasionally.
