Job Summary
Responsible to the assigned supervisor for performing entry level engineering work activities and projects requiring the application of engineering knowledge in a safe, effective, efficient and economic accomplishment of assigned objectives.

Essential Job Functions & Tasks
Technical Expertise:
Ability to understand and perform load flow analysis, short circuit and other planning studies as needs arise. Familiarity with tools such as PSS/E, TARA and Aspen are a plus. The selected candidate will frequently evaluate new end user connections to the Transmission grid (load and generation) and develop creative solutions to interconnect these requests. The candidate will also conduct area wide studies to assess necessary system improvements to address any reliability deficiencies.
In a Transmission Planning role, the candidate will also have an opportunity to learn about other disciplines and how they fit in the big picture.
Coordinate, facilitate and engage activities such as project engagement, project kick-offs and other tasks as they arise. Performs routine planning activities with minimum direction from higher-level employees. Provides training and guidance to lower-level employees as needed.
Planning & OrganizationCoordinates the submission of needs and solutions to PJM for their assigned area of responsibility. Tracks assigned tasks including project progress, customer RFIs etc. and operates within the established due dates.
Problem Solving & InitiativeResolves and initiates solutions to routine problems, seeks opportunities and embraces new ideas and approaches.
Communication & Interpersonal SkillsComfortable communicating with teams of other disciplines and developing presentations to stakeholders. Builds consensus and resolves conflict.
Decision MakingMake decisions subject to review within established standards, policies and procedures, aware of risks.
Business Awareness & CharacteristicsUnderstand organizational structure, budgeting and approval process, use economic analysis techniques, understand utility regulation and financing.
QualificationsEngineer Associate SG6, entry level for new graduates with a Bachelor's degree in engineering accredited by ABET. Passing the Fundamentals of Engineering examination is encouraged and preferred. VP or above may waive the requirement for a degree from a non-ABET accredited program.
Compensation and BenefitsBase Salary from $74,551 to $109,544 per year. Competitive compensation and a comprehensive benefits package that supports overall well-being. Physical demand:
Sedentary work (exerting up to 10 pounds occasionally).
