What You’ll Do
  • The Property Accountant is responsible for preparing the financial statements for all assigned communities, including data analysis, variance analysis, review of entries, corrections, and reconciliations to ensure accurate reporting.
  • Communicate with external partners such as lenders, investors, and government agencies.
Qualifications Required
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or real estate, or equivalent experience of 5+ years in a similar role.
  • Ability to record journal entries and evaluate financial statements for accuracy and completeness.
  • Strong analytical, critical thinking, and communication skills.
  • Basic knowledge of HUD, Tax Credit, and public housing regulations.
  • Basic knowledge of construction and affordable/senior living development accounting.
  • Knowledge of ownership structures and financial modeling; ability to analyze and provide commentary on financial results and variances.
  • Proficient in Excel with intermediate skills.
  • Able to communicate with lenders, investors, auditors, and government representatives.
Functions And Responsibilities
  • Work with lenders, syndicators, investors, regulatory agencies, and internal stakeholders on reporting and inquiries.
  • Review audits and tax returns for assigned sites.
  • Assist in annual budgeting for the sites.
  • Learn and apply complex accounting transactions such as acquisitions, refinances, casualty losses, sales, and other onboarding/offboarding processes.
  • Assist on projects aimed at strengthening internal controls and improving efficiency.
  • Ensure timely payments for taxes and other annual items, verifying accuracy of accruals analytically.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
