About the Opportunity
GOR Group is partnering with a Client, a global leader in technology infrastructure and mission-critical environments, to identify a Construction Manager for a large-scale data center project in New Albany, Ohio.
This is a senior-level field leadership position responsible for overseeing the installation of structured cabling, fiber optic infrastructure, and low-voltage systems within a hyperscale data center environment. The Construction Manager will serve as the onsite operational leader, ensuring work is executed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with project specifications, quality standards, and customer expectations.
The ideal candidate brings strong experience leading large field teams, coordinating complex installation activities, and delivering mission-critical infrastructure projects on schedule and within budget.
Position DetailsLocation: New Albany, Ohio (Onsite Daily)
Schedule: Monday-Friday, 2nd Shift (3:30 PM - 12:00 AM)
Travel: Up to 15% based on project requirements
Leadership Responsibility: Direct supervision of field personnel and installation teams
Key Responsibilities Safety Leadership- Champion a safety-first culture and promote an Accident-Free Everyday mindset.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations, customer requirements, and site safety standards.
- Conduct safety observations, audits, investigations, and corrective action activities.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on jobsite safety and risk reduction.
- Lead daily construction activities for structured cabling, fiber optic, and low-voltage installations.
- Develop and maintain installation strategies, site logistics plans, and labor forecasts.
- Manage five-week look-ahead schedules and daily production tracking.
- Coordinate material deliveries, staging activities, and workforce planning with project teams.
- Monitor project progress and proactively address schedule, manpower, or execution challenges.
- Serve as the onsite subject matter expert for structured cabling and fiber infrastructure installations.
- Ensure compliance with ANSI/TIA standards, BICSI guidelines, customer specifications, and quality requirements.
- Oversee testing, commissioning, and turnover activities including:
- OTDR testing
- Fiber certification
- Power meter validation
- Labeling and documentation standards
- Identify design conflicts, field issues, and scope changes while driving resolution through RFIs and change management processes.
- Lead and mentor large field teams consisting of technicians, foremen, subcontractors, and installation crews.
- Conduct training, coaching, performance management, and workforce development activities.
- Foster a culture centered around accountability, collaboration, craftsmanship, and continuous improvement.
- Support hiring efforts and workforce planning initiatives as project demands evolve.
- Serve as the primary onsite construction operations representative for the client.
- Participate in project meetings, site walks, milestone reviews, and technical discussions.
- Maintain strong relationships with customers, project teams, vendors, and trade partners.
- Proactively communicate project risks, delays, and mitigation strategies.
- Proven ability to lead, motivate, and develop diverse field teams.
- Strong conflict resolution, workforce planning, and organizational skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced project environment.
- Extensive knowledge of structured cabling, fiber optic infrastructure, and low-voltage systems.
- Strong understanding of mission-critical construction and data center environments.
- Experience with commissioning, testing, quality control, and turnover processes.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, schedules, and installation documents.
- Familiarity with change management, RFIs, and field coordination processes.
- Experience utilizing project management and construction technology platforms.
- Proficiency with:
- Microsoft Office Suite
- Bluebeam
- Construction Management Software
- Ability to create work sequencing plans and installation phasing strategies.
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- 3+ years of supervisory or management experience within structured cabling, telecommunications, or data center construction.
- Experience leading large field teams on complex construction projects.
- Data center new-build or retrofit experience strongly preferred.
- Experience working within union environments and managing labor compliance activities is highly desirable.
