Substitute teachers play an important role in our schools by stepping in to ensure quality education, classroom management, and policy continuity. They facilitate learning by adapting instruction to individual student needs, manage classroom organization to promote discipline, and make instructional decisions aligned with state mandates and district goals. Building substitutes are hired on a one‑year contract that automatically expires at the end of each school year.
Key Responsibilities- Follows lesson plans.
- Maintains a neat and orderly classroom.
- Ensures that students are never left unattended in the classroom.
- Keeps students safe and engaged.
- Monitors student progress and assists where needed.
- Maintains existing classroom management and discipline procedures.
- Understands building and classroom policy and procedures.
- Provides written feedback for the classroom teacher.
- Maintains accurate attendance records.
- Must hold a valid Ohio substitute license or certificate.
- Experience working with school‑aged children.
- Open to actively participating in staff development opportunities.
- Ability to communicate effectively and work cooperatively with students, staff, and parents.
- Full support of the Building Principal and Assistant Superintendent.

Physical Demands:
Position is mostly indoors. The employee frequently walks, stands, sits, runs, bends, twists, squats, stoops, kneels, reaches above the head and forward, and repeats hand motions. Routine lifting of up to 50 pounds may be required. Vision requirements include good depth perception and occasional ability to see at a distance. Hearing requirements include distinguishing speech in quiet and noisy settings.
Communication demands include giving directions to the team.
Work Environment:
The job typically involves low to moderate noise levels, requires meeting deadlines under time constraints, and interacts with the public and other workers. Suitable accommodations can be made for individuals with disabilities.
