Summary:

The Project Engineer is a key member of the project operations team that provides critical support to Project Management and is the liaison between the Field and the Office. Under the supervision of Project Management, the Project Engineer’s responsibilities include, but are not limited to, development of pre-work and post work submittal packages, processing, validating and compiling cable test reports, drafting and processing RFIs, preparing change order requests, verifying field conditions against design documents, ensuring working sets of drawings and specifications are kept up-to-date, maintaining redline / as‑built drawing sets and keeping project records appropriately filed.

The most critical responsibility of this key role is communication. The Project Engineer must ensure that the entirety of the extended Project Team is always up to date.

Position Details:
  • Exempt Salary position based upon experience & skill level (Fixed weekly salary broken down by 40 hours for invoicing purposes only)
  • Contract with possible contract extension or hire
  • Standard site hours: M‑F between the hours of 7am up to 10 hours;
    Saturdays between 7am up to 5‑8 hours.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Participate in the RFP processes, completing a detailed review of plans, specifications, and entirety of bid package.
  • Provide close support to the Project Manager and/or Senior Project Manager.
  • Evaluate and continually suggest improvements to processes used by Project Delivery Teams to effectively meet customer requirements and expectations.
  • Manage, mentor, and develop colleagues.
  • Interact with the customer to validate our understanding of expectations before, during, and after project completion.
  • Aid in providing close support and oversight for our subcontractors.
  • Lead field audit/validation of telecom design, proactively identifying conflicts or gaps and collaborating with CM, PM, and customer for resolution through the RFI process.
  • Manage project review process with particular emphasis on constructability, value engineering options and design discrepancies / clashes.
  • Own the implementation and oversight of electronic tracking systems and custom dashboards to drive real‑time visibility into task progress, crew productivity, and issue resolution.
  • Daily/weekly reporting, issue escalation, and coordination with project managers and general contractors.
  • Proactively and systematically communicate challenges, risks, and successes.
  • Coordinate with Project Superintendent(s) to understand and assess installation methods, labor needs, and manpower forecasts.
  • Support QA/QC by ensuring adherence to the Quality Control plans and processes.
  • Ensure that all downstream team members are meeting deadlines on assigned tasks.
  • Review contracts, work orders and purchase orders to fully understand contractual requirements and provisions, and to ensure scope of work is in alignment with associated estimates and respective contract documents.
  • Cultivate and maintain customer relationships.
  • Work with the field operations team to ensure proper materials and equipment are available.
  • Coordinate with customer for acceptance and sign‑off.
  • Demonstrate ownership of the change management process—actively identify scope impacts, initiate timely communication with stakeholders, and drive resolution to maintain schedule and project alignment.
  • Partner closely with QA/QC teams. Regularly review and validate test results (OTDR, Power Meter, etc.).
  • Maintain up to date redlines throughout the build lifecycle.
  • Lead the preparation of close‑out documentation, ensuring timely, organized, and customer‑ready submittals.
