Controls Technician, Data Center Capacity Delivery

Responsible for installing, testing, troubleshooting, and commissioning Building Management Systems (BMS) and Electrical Power Monitoring System (EPMS) equipment at Amazon data centers.
Key Responsibilities- Work primarily in the field at data center sites, supporting multiple sites under deployment and/or service.
- Perform point‑to‑point checkout between field devices and controllers.
- Conduct first‑line diagnostics, troubleshoot and maintain instrumentation associated with BMS and EPMS.
- Configure networks and test communication between third‑party devices, controllers, and servers.
- Configure and calibrate sensors.
- Read and interpret electrical schematics and control panel drawings.
- Supervise low‑voltage electrical contractors carrying out wiring and installation of field devices.
- Provide commissioning support and systems‑level testing.
- Generate red‑lined drawings and recommendations based on field work and verify as‑built drawings.
- Assist in root‑cause analysis during testing and commissioning.
- Ensure all personnel on site follow proper safety methodology.
- Work on‑call and on a rotating schedule, responding to after‑hours emergencies.
- Use ticketing systems, perform root‑cause analysis, and prioritize tasks.
- Walk job sites in uneven terrain and work at heights using ladders.
- Use hands and fingers to handle, feel, reach, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
- Lift and/or move up to 49 pounds; participate in group lifts for 50 pounds or more.
- Work shifts longer than eight hours.
- One or more years of industrial controls and automation experience or a bachelor’s degree in computer science, electrical engineering, automation engineering, or an equivalent field.
- Basic understanding of industrial controls systems, meters, devices, sensors, relays, and troubleshooting using standard hand tools, digital metering, or calibration/diagnostic equipment.
- One or more years of experience with low‑voltage controls, wiring, networking signals, electrical and mechanical systems, computers, and operating systems.
- Ability to work non‑standard hours, rotating shifts, and overtime as required.
- Certified training in a related technical field with one or more years of relevant industrial or HVAC controls experience, or three or more years of relevant industrial or HVAC controls experience in lieu of a degree.
- High school diploma (minimum).
- International Society of Automation (ISA) Certified Controls System Technician (CCST) Level I or higher.
- Experience with MQTT, BACnet, and/or MODBUS.
- Five or more years of experience in controls/automation, construction, or a related field in a technical environment.
- Demonstrated understanding of engineering documentation, electrical and mechanical diagrams, and standard operating procedures.
- Experience in data centers or mission‑critical environments.
- Fundamental knowledge of network design and low‑voltage cabling.
- Prior AWS/Amazon experience.
- Four or more years of military service.
