In this pivotal role, you will be the guardian of our data center operations, driving reliability and performance while optimizing operational efficiency across complex technical environments.
Amazon’s AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. The Data Center Facility Manager provides hands‑on electrical and mechanical equipment troubleshooting, maintains and operates mission‑critical equipment, and supports fire suppression, building automation, and general facilities systems.
Key Job Responsibilities- Oversee all aspects of the data center’s critical physical infrastructure and ensure that all work performed within the space is of high quality and has no adverse impact on internal or external customers.
- Manage teams of 24/7 engineering technicians and oversee their career development.
- Engage in improvement projects, coordinating with a variety of support teams to drive them from conception to completion.
- Coordinate daily with third‑party vendors to ensure adherence to contracted SLAs.
- Effectively manage the operations budget and expenditures.
- Serve as the after‑hour on‑call Data Center Facility Manager, responding to any issues, investigating, mitigating, and recovering incidents.
- 2+ years in a managerial or supervisory role with 5 or more direct reports.
- 3+ years of experience with industrial electrical or mechanical systems.
- 3+ years of administrative experience, including proficiency with Microsoft Office products.
- Ability to work in environments that involve walking, stooping, bending, and climbing to access equipment.
- Knowledge of electrical and mechanical systems in critical data center operations (feeders, transformers, generators, switch gear, UPS, ATS, PDU, chillers, pumps, air handling units, CRAC, etc.).
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Technology, or 5+ years of experience in a data center or mission‑critical environment with an emphasis on building and equipment operation.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills for conveying technical details.
- Experience conducting interviews and making effective hiring decisions.
