Civil-Structural Field Engineer will report directly to the Area Field Engineer and assist the construction team in the technical aspects of the civil, structural, and architectural scope. The Engineer will provide direct support to superintendents and craft professionals in areas including work package creation, quality control, quantity verifications, material take-offs and verifications, design change coordination, and general problem solving to meet project cost and time schedules.
MajorResponsibilities
- Collaborate with engineering teams to address constructability and design challenges related to commodity installations and work sequencing
- Provide comprehensive field engineering support to superintendents and project personnel, ensuring adherence to cost and schedule objectives
- Develop work plans, perform material take-offs, create material requisitions, perform and document quality control inspections, report installation progress, and resolve design and construction conflicts related to the installation and testing of civil/structural commodities
- Perform civil field engineering activities including inspections, audits, and planning to support the installation of formwork, rebar, concrete, structural steel, architectural commodities, and earthworks
- Assure procedural compliance for work being completed in the field
- Review specifications, purchase orders, subcontracts, inspection reports, delivery schedules, instruction manuals, and technical data to assist and advise on site
- Oversee, interface, and coordinate with subcontractors and subcontractor work efforts. Assist in the management of subcontract changes
- Required bachelor’s degree (or international equivalent) and 5-8 years of relevant experience or 9-12 years of relevant work experience
- Physically able to conduct field inspections and participate in project walk-downs requiring walking, climbing ladders, using fall protection, etc.
- Must be able to complete and pass a pre-employment drug screen
- Commitment to Environment, Safety and Health (ES&H) and a Zero Accident safety program
- Understanding of applicable Bechtel work processes, including Standard Work Process Procedures, is preferred
- Experience in semiconductor fabrication facilities is preferred
- Working knowledge of ACI 301, 318, 117-10, 305R, 306R, CRSI, AISC, RCSC
- Familiarity with Bechtel Standard Applications (BSAPs), including TEAMWorks, Aconex, DSCS, Unifier, Agile, Navisworks, and other automation tools used on Bechtel projects
- Computer literate in word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications
- Excellent communication and problem solving ability
