Project Overview

Bechtel is building a semiconductor manufacturing plant in New Albany, Ohio. The project partners with the North America Building Trades Unions and suppliers to create thousands of new jobs and works with local education organizations to implement training programs for future talent. Bechtel Manufacturing & Technology, Inc. offers engineering, procurement, and construction services for semiconductor manufacturing, electric vehicle, and data center markets.

Job Summary

Support material planning and/or coordination for a large project site by implementing the Material Management Plan and serving as liaison between Project, Field Procurement, and Construction to ensure accurate reporting and timely delivery of materials needed for work package installation.

Major Responsibilities
  • Serve as liaison at a project site between Project Supply Chain for reporting of undelivered materials, Field Supply Chain for stored materials, and Construction personnel for accurate reporting of materials required for work package installation.
  • Coordinate with responsible groups to ensure materials are provided in a timely manner and in sufficient quantity to support construction work; implement planned construction activities and work packaging structure through coordination with Field Engineering, Construction, Subcontractors, and Project Controls.
  • Ensure accurate distribution of materials to Construction and/or Subcontractor installation locations; determine with functional groups the best strategy for fabricated systems that provide the most overall value; implement planned inventory control mechanisms such as min-max and bag-and-tag; use the Supply Chain Automation tools to ensure construction material requirements are met; identify early on which surplus or unneeded materials should be returned to storage;

    coordinate material availability in support of design revisions, rework, contingency, or work-around plans.
  • Participate in Construction and/or Subcontractor planning meetings to be fully aware of changes in installation plans and priorities; coordinate with warehouse personnel for materials to be issued directly to the installation area rather than controlled in storage.
  • Coordinate the constructability look‑ahead meetings.
  • Prepare the site constructability reports as inclusive of 30, 60, and 90-day look-ahead; utilize the materials components of the project Automation Plan to monitor related data transfers between functional groups.
  • Adhere to the Materials Management Plan with respect to applicable commodity groups.
Education and Experience Requirements

Requires bachelor’s degree (or international equivalent) and 5 years of relevant experience or 7–8 years of experience in lieu of a degree.

Required Knowledge and Skills
  • Extensive knowledge in Materials Management including the use of material allocation tools, inventory controls, material demand forecast planning, schedule/cost risk mitigation, and metrics/reporting.
  • Familiarity with procurement, expediting, and logistics activities to support a global materials management program; advanced skills in developing and upskilling team members, working and communicating effectively with all levels of project functional groups.
  • Preference for familiarity with Incoterms.
