What you will do

Let's do this. Let's change the world. In this role the Sr Instrument Technician provides repair and calibration services to support Utilities / Facilities assets and systems. Many of the systems are business critical to Site Operations and must be accurately maintained for compliance and assurance of supply.

Maintains equipment to ensure uninterrupted service to Amgen

Performs regular scheduled maintenance / calibration on instruments which support or monitor utility systems (ex. Environmental monitoring, Pressure, Gas detection, Scales, Process equipment, etc.)

Provides emergency / unscheduled repairs of equipment and plant systems

Assists with projects by collaborating with system engineers to design, specify, and commission new systems or upgrades

Responsible for compliance with applicable policies and procedures

Applies engineering experience to ensure that instrumentation and controls systems used in assigned facilities are accurately specified, installed, programmed, and calibrated to perform design function

Performs periodic assessment of field device calibration frequencies, and addressing out of tolerance (OOT), accessing instrument performance for replacement / upgrade

Troubleshoots analog / digital hardware related problems on process control systems and instrumentation, including distributed control systems (DCS), programmable logic controllers (PLC's) and single loop analog controllers

Performs calibration procedures including training and qualifying calibration technicians

Effectively communicate, document, and schedule all work activities

Responsible for maintaining instrumentation and controls equipment in a validated environment including all GxP areas

Ensures that instrumentation and controls are of appropriate calibration designation and that red tagged and status coded instrumentation are addressed and repaired within allowable time constraints

Must succinctly communicate the status of job activities to management and applicable production support personnel

Other responsibilities and duties as assigned by Group Leader, Supervisor, or Senior Supervisor

Diagnose and resolve issues with automation systems and control equipment.

Provide technical support and troubleshooting for production and maintenance teams.

Perform system upgrades and maintenance to ensure optimal performance and reliability.

Basic Qualifications:

High school diploma / GED and 2 years of Facilities experience

OR

Associate degree and six months of Facilities experience

OR

Bachelors

Preferred Qualifications:

Associate's degree in electronics technology

Knowledge of validated systems, applicable engineering standards and an ability to work with facility specific software applications is essential to the job function
