Description
- Take the Emergency Communications Exam with the National Testing Network and choose to submit the scores to New Albany.
- Complete the National Testing Network’s personal history questionnaire.
- Obtain a passing score. Scores are pulled throughout the year and candidates who pass are contacted via the e-mail address they provided to National Testing Network.
- Candidates will be provided an application for employment with the City of New Albany and a Personal History Questionnaire to complete.
- Complete an initial interview with the Dispatch Manager.
- A thorough background is conducted and the candidate will attend, if recommended, a final interview with the New Albany City Manager and Chief of Police.
- If successful, the candidate may be given a conditional offer of employment.
- Successfully complete a drug screening, psychological evaluation and lie-detector examination.
- Receive a final offer of employment.

To receive and dispatch all police emergency calls for the City and stay in continuous communication with on-duty police officers, monitor emergency service radios and alarms, receive calls for City service and contact necessary resources during non-business hours, and maintain non-emergency contacts for public assistance.
QualificationsThe incumbent for this position must be at least 18 years of age and possess a high school diploma or GED equivalent. Additionally, the incumbent must be able to obtain and maintain an Ohio Law Enforcement Automated Data System (L.E.A.D.S.) certification as well as an Ohio Computerized Criminal History (CCH) certification. Other requirements include a valid Ohio Driver’s License and the ability to maintain insurability under the City’s vehicle insurance policy.
Finally, the incumbent must be able to successfully pass a background check according to the City’s established criteria and any restrictions put in place by state law.
