Description

AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. We support all AWS data centers, servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment to ensure our customers have continual access to the cloud services they rely on. We work on complex problems involving thousands of variables and are seeking talented individuals to join us.

You will be part of a diverse team including software, hardware, network engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, and operations managers. Your role will involve maintaining safety and security standards, providing high capacity at low costs, and owning your projects in an inclusive culture that values innovation and bold ideas.

We are looking for Data Center Technicians to help ensure the availability and reliability of our data center operations, involving hardware and network diagnostics, physical repairs, and participation in an on-call rotation.

Effective May 15, 2017, access to the AWS Gov Cloud region is restricted to U.S. Citizens and cannot be accessed outside the United States.

Key job responsibilities

  • Lifting and moving material up to 40 pounds
  • Working in cramped and elevated locations
  • Bending, lifting, stretching, reaching
  • Standing and walking for up to 8+ hours daily
  • Ascending/descending ladders, stairs, gangways safely
  • Working in an industrial environment
  • Supporting 24/7 operations with longer shifts, including nights

A day in the life

Our technicians take ownership of technical issues, troubleshoot problems, understand the broader context, maintain SLAs, act proactively, and improve processes through innovation. The role involves shift work, including nights, days, weekends, and holidays.

Basic Qualifications

  • Associate’s degree in an IT-related field or equivalent experience
  • 2+ years of experience with server hardware
  • 1+ years of experience with UNIX/Linux operating systems

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certifications like A+, Network+, Security+
  • 2+ years working in a Data Center environment
  • Understanding of storage devices
  • Experience managing work through a ticketing system
