Security Shift Supervisor

Wage: $21.00–21.50 per hour.

Must have a valid driver’s license and driver certification.

• Function as a supervisor of Security Officers, Lead Officers, and other company personnel assigned to one or more posts at client sites; ensure post orders are followed, rounds are completed, and required reports are filed; notify authorities and clients in emergency situations.
• Coach and discipline personnel as appropriate; seek advice from company management or designated representatives; meet personally with employees and document coaching and disciplinary actions.
• Train Security Officers and other personnel; review post orders and assignment details with subordinates.
• Assist in the submission of payroll and personnel information to the company as designated.
• Ensure adequate coverage of all posts and positions in conjunction with company management or representatives.
• Prepare, file, and submit various reports as required.
• Inspect posts as scheduled and meet with subordinates to outline tasks and responsibilities.
• Meet with client representatives as scheduled or as needed to assure that security requirements are met and provide quality customer service.
• Carry out supervisory duties including interviewing, orienting, training; planning, assigning, and directing work; coaching and appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints, resolving problems; making hiring and termination recommendations.
• May perform the duties of a Security Officer in accord with post orders and company policy.

High School Diploma or G.E.D. and 2 years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to perform the essential functions of the job. Minimum 2 years of experience in retail preferred.

• May be required to hold and continue to meet the requirements for any applicable state, county, and municipal license for Security Officers.
• Knowledge of security operations with emphasis on patrol, inspection, and response services.
• Knowledge of supervisory practices and procedures.
• Ability to provide positive direction and motivate performance.
• Understanding of a variety of security and safety devices and controls.
• Ability to learn quickly and carry out instructions in written, oral, or diagrammatic form.
• Ability to track and maintain schedule assignments.
• Ability to be an effective team member.
• Ability to maintain professional composure when dealing with unusual circumstances.
• Courteous telephone manner.

• Maintaining composure when dealing with authorities, executives, clients, staff, and the public, occasionally under urgent and pressure situations.
• Potential exposure to stressful situations, such as challenging individuals in or approaching uncontrolled areas.
• Must undergo and meet background and reference checks, controlled substance testing, and behavioral selection survey, and any mandatory licensing requirements.
• Directing and disciplining staff in a positive manner.
• May be required to work overtime without advance notice.
• Ability to handle multiple tasks concurrently.
• Basic computer usage and operating controls.
• Clear communication skills (seeing, hearing, speaking, writing).
• Frequent sitting, standing, walking, climbing stairs, walking on uneven terrain.
• Occasional reaching, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling.
• Frequent lifting up to 10 pounds, occasionally up to 25 pounds.
