Top Skills - Must Haves

+ Cable installation (coax, fiber, Cat5, Cat6, punch downs, etc.)

+ Data center or construction site experience

+ Structured cabling, rack and stack

+ Experience working with low-voltage cabling

+ Familiarity with telecom hand tools

+ Ability to pull all types of low-voltage cable

+ Understanding wiring schemes and testing

+ Field terminations and labeling

Secondary Skills - Nice to Have

+ Cat5/Cat6

Job Description

Technicians will install cabling and fiber within a data center environment.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

+ Install and decommission network and cabling infrastructure

+ Maintain repeatable, sustainable processes with a focus on continuous improvement

+ Provide structured project updates to stakeholders

+ Maintain high-quality workmanship and data center cleanliness

+ Follow all production, safety, and quality standards, industry codes, and best practices

+ Collaborate with stakeholders to remove project roadblocks

+ Read and interpret blueprints, building documentation, and redlines

+ Understand data center infrastructure technologies

Shift Options

Candidates must be open to day, swing, overnight, and weekend work when needed.

Current Shifts

Day

Shift:

+ Mon-Thurs: 6:00am-6:30pm

+ Fri: 6:00am-2:30pm

+ Overtime available on Fridays; voluntary weekend hours

Swing

Shift:

+ Mon-Thurs: 10:00am-10:30pm

+ Fri: 10:00am-6:30pm

Future Shift Options

+ 6:00am-6:30pm (Mon-Fri)

+ 6:30pm-6:00am (Mon-Fri)

Scope: OSP/ISP

Skills & Qualifications

+ Knowledge of basic telecom hand tools

+ Strong customer service and safety awareness

+ Ability to read and understand floor plans and blueprints

+ Ability to perform wiring testing, cable pulling, field terminations, and labeling

+ Solid understanding of both copper and fiber cable troubleshooting and testing

+ Ability to install ladder racking and seismic bracing above and below raised floors

+ Experience working in data centers

+ Capable of maintaining organized paperwork and running service jobs

+ Able to layout MDF/IDF closets and dress various types of cables

+ Fiber skills: dressing/furcating trunks, fusion splicing (ribbon/single OSP/ISP)

+ Using testers such as DSX 5000/OTDR, programming testers, downloading results to Linkware/Linkware Live

+ Applying mass labels per Portmap

+ Differentiating live vs. decommissioned cable

+ Performing service swaps on live networking devices

+ Using "FIM" database and scan tools

+ Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, climb ladders, work on raised platforms

+ Strong written, verbal, and visual communication skills

Reports to:

Operations Manager; takes direction from Technician through Advanced Senior Technician levels.

Work Environment

This is a fast-paced, physical role inside a data center environment. Requires standing, walking, bending, lifting, and working with technical equipment daily.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of New Albany, OH.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $23.00/hr.
