Amentum is seeking an Electrical Technician II to join our operations & maintenance team in New Albany, Ohio. This position performs at the intermediate level of expertise, assisting in preventative maintenance on heating and cooling systems, power supply, generators, UPS systems, electrical distribution, and control and monitoring systems.
Responsibilities- Maintain current and future facility electrical systems.
- Diagnose, troubleshoot, maintain, and repair electrical equipment and control circuits from 24V up to and including 480
VAC, electro‑mechanical test devices, instrumentation devices, PLCs / ladder‑logic controllers, and variable‑frequency drives as necessary. - Work comfortably near or around 13.8kV voltage.
- Support facility electrical expansion projects.
- Inspect, maintain, and repair critical infrastructure systems such as servers, network equipment, PLCs, system administration, access control, alarm investigation, and SCADA management.
- Provide daily assistance to technicians by reading blueprints, schematics, ladder logic, and sequences of operations; conduct tours of systems and assess their working order.
- Adhere to Federal, State and Local electrical codes and be familiar with NFPA 70E.
- Identify and correct safety‑related issues and perform independent equipment evaluations to detect potential failures.
- Perform preventive maintenance on process/production equipment as scheduled in the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
- Respond to and provide service and feedback to customers on all work orders while ensuring compliance with codes, regulations, and industry standards.
- Analyze and resolve work problems or assist workers in problem solving.
- Understand company policies and enforce safety regulations.
- Safely perform work functions, following proper safety guidelines such as job hazard analysis, lockout/tagout procedures, and wearing required PPE.
- Operate measuring, diagnostic, and testing instruments to support energy efficiency solutions.
- Operate hand tools, laptop computers, and diagnostic hardware to perform work.
- Maintain a strict schedule while demonstrating flexibility in day‑to‑day activities and scheduling for customer benefit.
- Promote and adhere to the Amentum Safety Structure.
- Other duties as assigned by Manager or Supervisor.
- High school diploma or demonstrated equivalent.
- 3–4 years’ experience as an electrician in a data center, industrial environment, hospital, manufacturing facility, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Ability to work in an aerial lift or scissor lift at heights up to 30ft or higher.
- Self‑motivated with strong organizational/time‑management skills.
- Willingness to work overtime when required; may work holidays and weekends, with schedules that can change based on critical business needs.
- Tasks requiring repetitive wrist movement.
- Tasks requiring extensive walking throughout facilities during a workday.
- Ability to climb extension ladders, roof ladders, stepladders, and stairs as needed.
- Flexibility to bend, stoop, squat, kneel, reach, stretch, and move in a 90‑degree range.
- Ability to differentiate colors pertaining to wire color‑coding.
- Ability to read and understand information in documents or displayed on computer screens.
- Ability to use office equipment and operate a computer keyboard for database access, messaging, and document preparation.
- Ability to communicate with others on the telephone and in one‑on‑one or group discussions, meetings, and presentations.
- Fluency in computer use, including the full Microsoft product line.
- Professional and friendly client interaction despite periods of stress.
Wear steel‑toe safety shoes, safety glasses, gloves, hard hats, and other personal protective equipment as needed.
