Contract1 Opening $1,500reward per hire## About this Role Agility Partners is seeking a skilled and collaborative Software Engineer to join our high-impact Purchase Services team. You will support the technology that powers order placement and payment processing across all digital channels. As part of a dedicated team of 11 engineers, you will work on a highly visible system with real-world impact in every restaurant and retail transaction.

Your role involves building and maintaining scalable backend services using Java, Spring Boot, and Kafka, while contributing to the modernization of our client's commerce technology stack. Key Responsibilities
* Design, build, and maintain scalable backend services that support core purchase workflows, including order placement, payment authorization, and downstream integrations.
* Enhance and manage APIs handling credit/debit card transactions while ensuring PCI compliance, fault tolerance, and performance under high volume.
* Develop and support event-driven architecture using Kafka for real-time communication between services and external providers.
* Collaborate cross-functionally with engineers, product managers, and architects to troubleshoot issues, identify enhancements, and continuously improve system reliability.

The Ideal Candidate ### Required Experience and Qualifications
* 4–8 years of Java and Spring Boot development experience.
* Strong experience developing RESTful APIs and backend microservices.
* Experience with Kafka or similar event-streaming platforms (preferred).
* Hands-on experience with Jira and familiarity with Agile/Scrum workflows.
* Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate across technical and non-technical teams.
* Comfortable working in a fast-paced, collaborative, and high-performing engineering culture.
* Must be local to Columbus, OH and available to work onsite 3 days/week.
