Under the direction of the General Manager, the Operations Manager is responsible for day‑to‑day site operations, supervising warehousing, receiving, and shipping of products in alignment with service and cost objectives. Responsibilities include planning inbound and outbound volume, communicating with customers, managing space and equipment, and overseeing labor planning and performance management.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Develop and enforce systems and procedures for safe, profitable operations in accordance with company policies.
- Manage operations to achieve productivity, service goals, and client SLA compliance.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance operational efficiency and cost savings.
- Meet client‑specified KPI targets and comply with quality system requirements.
- Motivate and supervise teams, applying fair communication, counseling, and discipline as necessary.
- Collaborate with Human Resources on hiring, training, and professional development, and participate in performance evaluations.
- Communicate operational status and critical issues to senior management and client representatives.
- Plan daily work schedules based on work orders, arrival notices, and customer instructions.
- Assess volume demands to reorganize warehouse space and adjust staffing or equipment levels.
- Ensure effective training for all team members, adhering to SOPs.
- Maintain high motivation and focus on customer satisfaction.
- Promote adherence to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Conduct staff meetings to review daily and weekly activities.
- Ensure team proficiency in required information systems, including WMS.
- Coordinate procurement of computer hardware and software following IT policies.
- Maintain awareness of hardware and software changes.
- Develop proficiency in client systems.
- Manage high‑level customer service standards and maintain contact with functions to address requests.
- Attend or lead customer meetings to discuss issues.
- Coordinate supplier and customer visits to the site.
- Support development of annual operating budgets and financial controls.
- Manage maintenance programs for sanitation, security, housekeeping, safety, and equipment (MHE).
- Ensure employees are trained on MHE and keep informed of new technologies.
- Achieve injury frequency ratings (IFR) and other safety metrics; audit for compliance with safety, security, and quality principles.
- Adhere to statutory health and safety requirements.
- Work overtime as required by business needs.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
- Manage warehouse operations supervisors and support staff.
- High school diploma or GED required; bachelor's degree preferred.
- 7+ years in logistics or distribution; 5+ years supervisory.
- Comfortable working in varying temperatures.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- Operating WMS systems knowledge.
- English language proficiency (reading, writing, speaking).
- Strong attention to detail, organization, communication, leadership, and planning.
- Ability to work flexible schedules, including nights and weekends.
- Adaptability to change in a fast‑paced environment.
- Ability to lift 21–50 pounds and perform physical tasks such as bending, walking, and standing for extended periods.
