Range starts at $55,532 based on W-WEA Collective Agreement

Wayne-Westland Community Schools is located in the metropolitan Detroit area, between Ann Arbor and Detroit. Our staff provides the very best educational opportunities for approx. 10,000 students from Westland, Wayne, Canton, Livonia, Garden City, Dearborn Heights, Inkster, and Romulus. The Wayne-Westland Community School district is comprised of ten elementary schools (K-5), three middle schools (6-8), and two high schools (9-12). We also have an early childhood center, an ultra-modern facility for career/technical training, an alternative high school, and a thriving online program.

Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesOthers duties may be assigned
- Speech Therapy to Preschool, Elementary, Middle School, High School and Post Secondary language students
- Evaluation of communication needs of students
- M.E.T. and I.E.P.T. meetings
- Augmentative and alternative communication services and devices
- Regular meetings with staff and parents
- Work on Special Education Team
- Regular and predictable attendance
- Special Education Certificate R340.1781, R340.1782 and R340.1796 in the area of Speech/Language or License per R340.1792 (ASHA-CCC)
- Prefer School Based Therapist
- Ability to do M.E.T. and I.E.P.T. paperwork
Skills and Abilities
- Must be eligible to work in the United States
- Must have good organizational skills
- Must have good written and oral language ability
- Good interpersonal skills with children and adults
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
This person must be able to remain in a stationary position for long periods of time and must be able to move about the classroom, building, etc. as needed. This person must be able to communicate with students, parents, other teachers and administrators and must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations. At times, this employee may engage in physical management with students in order to maintain a safe environment for students and others.
The employee may need to travel to different work locations.

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud. The employee is frequently required to interact with students, staff and occasionally with the public. At times, the employee may be directly responsible for the safety and well-being of students.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
The amount of contract, length of the workday and the number of workdays is based on the WWEA collective bargaining agreement.

Job performance is evaluated in accordance with District guidelines.
