Description

A Controls Engineer-Software applies PLC and HMI programming theory and knowledge to design industrial control systems and assembly tools. The role requires understanding wiring diagrams, layout drawings, and engineering specifications. The engineer must be professional, proactive, and positive when interacting with customers.

Responsibilities
  • Effectively program, start up, debug, and commission tooling using Rockwell, Siemens, or other industry-standard applications.
  • Use Allen Bradley and Siemens PLC/HMI software.
  • Familiarity with GM, Ford, Stellantis, or other OEM PLC/HMI design templates and specifications.
  • Design complete control systems for industrial applications (AutoCAD and EPLAN experience preferred).
  • Support manufacturing resources and customers by troubleshooting and debugging systems.
  • Provide onsite support to customers as needed.
  • Collaborate with mechanical design team to create or modify controls systems.
  • Travel within the continental US, Canada, and Mexico as required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Read and understand mechanical and electrical drawings.
  • Maintain proficiency with personal computer, keyboard, and software programs.
  • Use AutoCAD and RSLogix 5000.

  • Possess strong interpersonal skills.
  • Communicate verbally and in writing effectively.
  • Organize work and prioritize tasks under limited supervision.
  • Present findings clearly to stakeholders.
  • Explain decision-making processes.
  • Maintain confidentiality.
  • Work well under pressure and adapt to changing schedules and demands.
Education

Associate degree preferred in electrical technology, manufacturing, or a related field, AND at least five years of related experience. Requires at least two years of experience managing multiple projects, and at least three years of PLC programming experience with preference for Siemens and Allen Bradley. Completion of GM Certifications is preferred. GCCS, Networks, and RUST are ideal; if candidates lack these certifications, they are required to complete the courses within the first 90 days of employment.
