Position: Transportation Engineer 12 (Utilities and Permits) - Macomb TSC

Job Description

This Senior Transportation Engineer will serve as the primary Transportation Service Center (TSC) contact for reviewing and approving permit applications and coordinating the necessary adjustments and/or relocation of utility facilities that may be impacted by project construction. The position acts as a liaison between designers and utility owners, providing the final utility clearance for assigned Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) projects.

Responsibilities
  • Review and approve permit applications related to transportation projects.
  • Coordinate required adjustments and relocation of utility facilities anticipated to be impacted by construction.
  • Serve as liaison between designers and utility owners to ensure compliance with utility clearance requirements.
  • Provide final utility clearance for assigned MDOT projects.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science degree in engineering (preferred: civil engineering).
  • Minimum of three years of professional engineering experience in transportation systems and programs equivalent to a Transportation Engineer.
  • At least one year of experience equivalent to a Transportation Engineer P11.
  • Possession of a registered professional engineer license issued by the State of Michigan may substitute for six months of experience at the Transportation Engineer 9‑12 levels.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Current U.S. work eligibility.
