The purpose of the lathe or mill operator is to produce precision parts for our customers. summary of duties:
1) Maintenance of the machine
Check fluid levels indicated by maintenance check sheet located at your station Fill out maintenance log as required by check sheet
2) Run first piece to be inspected
Power up machine (if necessary) Check fluid levels per instructions
Check with lead operator or supervisor to ensure that the program being used is the one needed to run your job Check all tooling
1) any questions, contact a lead operator or supervisor Run the first piece
1) Dimensionally check part for correctness per instructions
2) Take part to quality control for approval Any necessary changes to be made, contact a lead operator or supervisor
3) Start days production run Check with supervisor to find out number of pieces needed to run for this jobRun the job complete for your operation or until next shift arrives after first piece approval
4) Clean work area daily The operator is to keep the work center free from trash and debris Mop area if needed
Wipe machine down (as needed)5) Other items as required by supervision Supervision may require the operator to perform other duties outside of those listed above When doing other work, perform those duties according to its job description
6) GoalsA lathe or mill operators goal should be to complete the matrix training for their advancement into a lead operator position
