Job Description
The employee functions as a first-line administrative supervisor of a limited work area (second‑level clinical direction) comprising Licensed Practical Nurses. The role serves as a substitute for the Unit Coordinator during afternoons, nights, and weekends. Responsibilities include ensuring appropriate staffing, facilitating communication among units, reviewing charting for completion, assisting with admissions, transfers, and discharges, and performing nursing duties requiring Registered Nurse (RN) skill level.
The supervisor will round regularly to monitor nursing techniques and compliance with policies and standards of care, audit multiple care areas, and address member, family, and staff concerns when the Unit Coordinator or Director of Nursing is absent. Additional supervisory duties include processing time sheets, approving leave, counseling and disciplining staff, and conducting performance evaluations for subordinates.
Qualifications- Registered Nurse license issued by the Michigan Board of Nursing.
- Completion of a nursing degree or approved nursing school program.
- One year of experience equivalent to a Registered Nurse, or
- Possession of a master’s degree in nursing may substitute for one year of experience, or a bachelor’s degree may substitute for six months of experience.
