Description:
The facility is seeking a full-time, permanent Assistant Director of Nursing who can provide a long-term leadership solution and thrive in a unionized healthcare environment.
Prior experience working with unions or in a union setting is strongly preferred.
Key need: A seasoned healthcare leader who is comfortable in a union environment, has significant management experience, and can drive operational improvements while leading a team through positive change.
Assist in directing, planning, coordinating, monitoring, and supervising the effective and efficient use of nursing operations and the delivery of behavioral health/nursing services with a positive, empathetic, and professional attitude toward customers.
Recognize that patient safety is a top priority.
Work closely with the Director of Nursing to improve the quality of patient care and services provided by the nursing team.
Collaborate with others to ensure that all patients' physical, biopsychosocial, age, developmental, and cultural needs are met.
When needs are not met, acknowledge and work to resolve customer the absence of the Director of Nursing, oversee the nursing team to ensure quality patient care, customer service and compliance with all local, state, and federal rules and regulations, as well as the facility's policies and procedures.
Assist in providing effective and efficient budget management that ensures the best utilization of resources.
Manage the daily operations of nursing services.
Evaluate service needs and staffing requirements to ensure that patients' needs are met as assigned.
Role model expectations related to customer service and demonstrate a sense of urgency related to the importance of patient safety.
Ensure nursing services are provided in compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
Provide staff management, including hiring, development, training, performance management, and communication to ensure effective and efficient department operation.
Identify the educational needs of staff and develop educational or training programs.
Assist with developing and implementing organizational policies and procedures for the facility.
Develop and maintain documentation systems for continuity of care and record storage that comply with regulations.
Intervene in crisis situations and investigate incidents.
Prepare reports to inform management of the status and implementation of programs, services, and quality initiatives of the unit.
Help oversee nursing services documentation to ensure compliance with standards.
Provide direct care as needed.
Serve on committees as required.
Perform other functions and tasks as assigned.
Education/Experience/Skill Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Nursing or higher strongly preferred.
Current RN license required.
Five years of experience as a registered nurse preferred.
Two years of registered nursing experience required.
Two years of experience in behavioral health as a registered nurse preferred.
One year of experience in a behavioral health/psychiatric/addiction recovery environment or relatable experience required.
Prior experience as a nursing manager strongly preferred.
One year of progressive leadership or management experience required.
Licenses/Designations/
Certifications:
Current RN license required.
CPR and de-escalation/restraint certification required (training available upon hire).First aid certification may be required based on state or facility regulations.
An initial one-on-one interview will be followed by a one-hour interview with senior management, and possibly a site visit, before full hire.
