Burke& Lamb, PC a growing CPA firm is seeking a highly motivated professional tojoin our team in New Bedford, MA. With offices in New Bedford, MA and Nantucket, MA we service clients throughout the South Coast, Cape, and the Islands.
We provide audit, accounting, tax and management consulting services to adiverse group of clients, including but not limited to commercial fishing, restaurants,nonprofit organizations, manufacturing, healthcare, petroleum distribution andretail, and professional services.
Theideal candidate should have at least 2 to 5 years of public accounting experience.
The staff accountant should possess strong communication skills and be proficient in computer programs such as MS Office, Quick Books and Pro System fxtax software. Experience should include preparation of individual, corporate,fiduciary, and nonprofit income tax returns; financial statement preparation;year-end business closings, and general business and tax consulting.
- Prepare individual, corporate, partnership, fiduciary and nonprofit tax returns
- Trial balance preparation and analysis of trial balance accounts
- Prepare Tax Planning and Projections.
- Audit,review and compilation engagements for various types of clients
- Reconciliation and posting of the general ledger
- Month-end,Quarter-end, and Year-end closing
- Taxand GAAP research
- 2years of public accounting experience, preferred
- Individual, corporate (S& C Corp), fiduciary, and nonprofit tax return prep experience
- General ledger andtrial balance experience
- Detail oriented with the ability to manage multiple engagements simultaneously
- Knowledge of Quick Books
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and Adobe
- Knowledge of CCH Pro System fx Tax and Pro System fx Engagement a plus
- Strong written and verbal communication and organizational skills.
- Abilityto work in an environment with changing priorities and deadlines
- Abilityto conduct tax research utilizing checkpoint tax software and government websites
- Bachelor'sdegree in Accounting, or equivalent
- Master’sdegree in Accounting or Taxation preferred
