The Area Coordinator (AC) is a 10-month, full-time, professional in the Office of Residence Life & Housing Services with responsibility for the student development and effective administration of a residential community housing a diverse population of roughly 900 undergraduate, graduate, and law students.

The Area Coordinator directly supervises student staff, including Residential Office Assistants (ROA) and Mailroom employees within the residence halls. In addition to co-managing University-owned residential properties, the Area Coordinator may also manage University-sponsored properties such as hotels or leased units, at times.

Area Coordinators may have more than one office space in the residential properties within their assigned campus and will be expected to be a visible presence in each. Suffolk’s campus is mixed into the heart of downtown Boston, making it critical for this position to work autonomously, exercising excellent judgment in the areas of responsibility. All ACs participate in the Administrator on Call duty rotation (24 hours per day, 7 days per week, 365 days per year) and may be requested to help resolve concerns over the phone or in person.

As a live-in position, it is required that the on-campus apartment provided be the individual''s primary residence and that person must maintain a high visibility within their residential area of responsibility. While the functional responsibilities of the position occur within the 10-month period from August through May, the Area Coordinator salary will be paid out over 12 months, benefits will remain active all year, and the Area Coordinator will be granted the ability to remain in their University-owned apartment during their off-months.
