Position
Description:
Under the direction of the Director of Facilities, the College Space Planner is responsible for the planning, allocation, utilization, and coordination of space across the College’s campus. The Space Planner works collaboratively with academic and administrative departments, senior leadership, Facilities personnel, and other stakeholders to evaluate space needs, optimize the use of existing facilities, and support renovations, relocations, and capital planning initiatives.
The position maintains accurate space and floor plan records and coordinates campus moves, furniture planning, and related projects to ensure College facilities effectively support institutional operations, strategic priorities, and the needs of the campus community.
Duty and Responsibilities:
Manage and coordinate the allocation and utilization of space across all campus buildings to support the College’s academic, administrative, student, and operational needs.
Collaborate with senior leadership, Facilities personnel, and other campus stakeholders to assess current and future space needs and contribute to capital planning, renovations, and campus development initiatives.
Analyze campus space utilization and recommend solutions to improve the efficient and effective use of classrooms, offices, common areas, and other College facilities.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date campus floor plans, blueprints, space records, and related facilities documentation.
Plan and coordinate departmental relocations and campus moves, working with affected departments, Facilities personnel, Information Technology, vendors, and other stakeholders to minimize operational disruptions.
Develop and maintain an inventory of campus furniture, fixtures, and related assets; coordinate furniture allocation, relocation, reuse, and storage.
Coordinate with architects, consultants, vendors, community organizations, and other external partners as necessary to support space planning, relocation, and facilities initiatives.
Maintain effective communication and working relationships with campus departments and stakeholders to identify space needs, resolve concerns, and support institutional priorities.
Demonstrate reliability, responsibility, and dependability by maintaining regular attendance and fulfilling assigned work responsibilities.
Participate in the College’s on-call rotation and respond to after-hours and emergency campus calls by providing direction, making operational decisions, and responding in person when necessary.
Prepare and support academic, athletic, and College-wide events, including commencement, homecoming, admissions events, and other special programs.
Perform special projects and other related duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
Demonstrate organizational, planning, and time-management skills
Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
Strong problem-solving, analytical, and decision-making abilities.
Proficiency with project management and collaboration tools such as Microsoft Project, CAD, and Procore
Qualifications:
A Bachelor's Degree or higher in Interior Design/Interior Architecture is preferred.
5+ years of experience in spatial planning
CSPA certification is preferred
Higher Education, or multi-building property management preferred.
LICENSING REQUIREMENTS:
A valid driver’s license is required.
