Position: Special Education Teacher

- Implement elementary curriculum through whole group, small group, and individualized instruction, including technology-aided instruction.
- Determine individual learning needs through data analysis from formal and informal assessments, including technology-based instruments.
- Plan and implement lessons and projects based on objectives tied to state and federal learning standards and communicate objectives daily in written and oral form.
- Create an optimal learning environment conducive to learning and accomplishment of student learning objectives.
- Adapt teaching methods and instructional materials to meet students’ varying needs and interests, including through instructional technology tools.
- Plan and conduct activities for a balanced program of instruction that provides students with opportunities to observe, question, and investigate.
- Monitor and evaluate student progress and record outcomes.
- Attend professional development opportunities during the regular work year.
- Assess and summarize student performance on Individualized Education Plan documents.
- Actively participate in all aspects of Special Education team meetings and documentation.
- Create MCAS alternate portfolios according to student IEP requirements.
- Bachelor’s degree.
- Valid teaching license from the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education, Moderate Disabilities (PreK-8).
- Demonstrated skills in working with students with varying ability levels.
- Experience with assessments measuring and monitoring reading and mathematics achievement progress.
- Experience using computer/technology in the classroom.
- SEI Endorsement.

In accordance with the Unit A contract.
