PositionPara‑Educator – Dual Language (Spanish)
ObjectiveInstructional paraprofessionals provide positive and nurturing support to students in the school setting. Supports may include attending to students’ physical, personal, academic, and/or social‑emotional needs. Through collaboration, paraprofessionals assist the teacher in daily instruction, appropriately managing the classroom environment, and are instrumental in supporting students in meeting their academic, social and behavioral goals.
Responsibilities- The paraprofessional works under the direction and guidance of the special education/general education teacher, administration, and school-based personnel in supporting students' growth and achievement including students' IEP goals and objectives.
- Assists students in their learning across content areas in individual, small group, and whole group settings.
- Assists students in self‑regulation and management of emotions and behavior to maximize learning, including implementing and supporting behavior plans and classroom management programs.
- Provides sensory support as needed, such as implementing sensory plans, providing sensory breaks, and supporting the use of sensory equipment.
- Assists and supports students in communication with peers, school staff, etc., including the use of assistive technology.
- Supports students in transitions during arrival and dismissal, between subjects/classes, and between activities.
- Provides support in the development of social, emotional, and behavioral skills with individuals or groups of students.
- May review students' IEPs as needed to ensure their needs are understood and being met.
- May provide personal care assistance, including toileting/diapering, feeding, and physical lifting for hygiene and positioning.
- Other duties related to student support as directed by administration.
- Minimum of 48 college credits or passed the Para Pro test.
- Experience working with children, preferably in an educational setting.
- Experience with or ability to become CPI trained if necessary.
- Experience working with children receiving special education services preferred.
- Passion to work with school‑aged children.
- Citizenship, residency, or work visa required.
