General
Purpose:
The purpose of the Academic Dean is to manage all aspects of campus academic operations.
- Determine optimum faculty staffing model for the campus; recruit, hire, train and evaluate faculty in cooperation with Program Managers and the Director of Academics
- Serves our program generalist to resolve staffing issues and provide instructional advice to staff.
- Train and orient new faculty in overall expectations and campus procedures; ensure new faculty meet with Program Managers or Program Leads for program‑specific training.
- Implements strategies and collaborative efforts to increase student retention and program completion rates, maintain high academic standards, and ensure continuous improvement.
- Ensure faculty is teaching according to the prescribed curriculum and outlined structure
- Conduct faculty meetings
- Provide campus leadership and direction
- Enforce faculty reporting procedures for attendance, grades, academic probation, at‑risk students, etc.
- Perform various regular reports including daily attendance rates, staffing, pass/fail rates, retention, etc.
- Collaborate and communicate regularly with Program Managers, Program Leads, Student Services, and other Academic Deans to ensure consistent quality delivery of programs and services.
- Respond, investigate and take appropriate action regarding student or staff complaints or concerns.
- Actively contribute to program improvement through participation in CSI’s Academic Priority Committee, Curriculum Enhancement Committee, and Specialty Sub Committee
- Deliver feedback and input from faculty and students regarding curriculum and instructional materials to the Director of Academics, Academic Priority Committee
- Monitor the Academic Department budget
- Other duties and special projects as assigned.
Directly supervises academic staff. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Education and ExperienceThe position requires a Bachelor’s degree, with preference to a Master’s degree in education, teaching, curriculum & instruction, educational leadership, or related field. At least two years of relevant work experience in the education setting is required. Minimum of 2 years supervisory experience required, preferably in an academic setting.
Language SkillsAbility to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
Mathematical SkillsAbility to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
Reasoning SkillsAbility to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems. Ability to deal with nonverbal symbolism (formulas, scientific equations, graphs, musical notes, etc.,) in its most difficult phases. Ability to deal with a variety of abstract and concrete variables.
