Summary:
Provide rigorous lessons aligned to the MA State Frameworks and Next Generation Science Standards that promote independent thinking, creative problem solving, and intellectual curiosity for all students. The successful candidate will be responsible for implementing the district‑determined curriculum, utilizing instructional models that promote phenomena‑based, three‑dimensional science learning.
- Plan and implement instruction to ensure that all students meet and exceed MA State Frameworks using the district‑determined curriculum.
- Facilitate student‑driven investigations, guide students in developing scientific models, and foster a collaborative classroom environment where students actively engage in scientific practices.
- Use data to inform instruction, track student progress, and self‑evaluate and set goals.
- Deliver engaging, targeted instruction that meets MA DESE Standards for high school chemistry.
- Differentiate services and instruction to meet a variety of student learning needs and strengths.
- Maintain active communication with students’ families in support of their learning and communicate with families consistently and regularly throughout the school year about their children’s academic and social progress.
- Assess student performance using formal, summative, and portfolio assessments to drive instruction.
- Oversee laboratory experiments safely and effectively.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the principal.
- Licensed by the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education in Chemistry (8‑12).

- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Outstanding interpersonal and collaborative teamwork skills.
- SEI Endorsement.
- Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Citizenship, residency or work visa required.
- Reports to:
School Principal. - Schedule based on the standard NBHS Unit A contract for the 2026‑2027 school year.
