This position provides instruction for grades 9-12 in Medical Assisting. Under general direction of a principal it provides leadership in an educational environment that encourages and nurtures learning for all students. It maintains continuous evaluation of student progress and works to improve efficiency and effectiveness in all areas under its direction.
Position PurposeProvide instructional support, curriculum development, and classroom management for Medical Assisting students, ensuring a rigorous, relevant, and inclusive learning experience.
Education, Training and ExperienceAssociates Degree in relevant areas of instruction preferred. Must hold or be eligible for a teaching certificate with the Massachusetts Department of Education in Medical Assisting (9-14), Chapter 74.
Essential Functions- Integrate medical assisting concepts with academic related subjects.
- Meet and instruct assigned students in designated locations and times.
- Develop and maintain an environment conducive to effective learning.
- Prepare for assigned classes and provide written evidence of preparation upon request of superior.
- Assist students to set and maintain standards of appropriate behavior.
- Employ a variety of instructional techniques and instructional media to meet the needs of the students.
- Implement the district’s philosophy of education and instructional goals and objectives.
- Takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials and facilities.
- Evaluate student progress on a continuing basis. Maintains an effective system of monitoring student progress to inform appropriate persons.
- Maintain accurate, complete and correct records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulation.
- Enforce school rules, administrative regulations, and board policy.
- Be available to meet with students and parents for education related purposes outside the instructional day when required or requested.
- Participate in faculty meetings. Demonstrate professional growth and attend all meetings called or approved by the Superintendent, Principal, or Supervisor.
- Cooperate with other members of the staff in planning instructional goals, objectives, and methods.
- Assist in the selection of books, equipment, and other instructional materials.
- Maintain open lines of communication with students and their parents concerning educational and behavioral progress.
- Participate in the evaluation process.
- Perform other duties as needed.
Bachelor’s Degree in relevant areas of instruction preferred. ONLY APPLICANTS WITH A VALID CHAPTER 74 CERTIFICATION IN Medical Assisting (9-14), Chapter 74 WILL BE CONSIDERED FOR THE POSITION.
