Job DescriptionSUMMARY:
The successful candidate will be responsible for the strategic planning, funding management, and operational management of CVTE programs offered at New Bedford High School.
- Maintains current knowledge of local, state, and federal laws, policies, procedures, and funding sources necessary to communicate pertinent information to stakeholders
- Collaborates with high school teams in developing standard‑based curriculum to prepare students for high wage, skill, and demand positions
- Researches and analyzes labor market demand and modifies, resources, and enhances CVTE programming to match
- Collaborates with principals, curriculum specialists, local business representatives, and community college staff to develop, improve, and implement programs that meet learning standards in the Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks
- Maintains close working relationships with guidance staff and participates in career awareness initiatives at the middle and high school levels
- Works with the community, area businesses, labor organizations, and state agencies to expand linkages with postsecondary institutions and build cooperative educational processes and industry internships
- Prepares and administers a spending plan for CVTE at NBHS, drawing on local, state, and federal funding sources
- Manages all aspects of the non‑74 Perkins program in New Bedford Public Schools
- Maintains accurate documentation of all CVTE‑linked students and staff programs and provides official reports as required by the Superintendent, state, and federal agencies
- Continuously evaluates CVTE progress at NBHS to achieve the established goal of providing the opportunity for all students to prepare for gainful employment
- Publicizes and reports on Career Vocational and Technical Education programs to parents, staff, and the general public
- Ensures that policies and practices enable staff members and students to interact effectively in a culturally diverse environment in which student backgrounds, identities, strengths, and challenges are respected
- Demonstrates strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
- Develops and nurtures a culture in which staff reflect on their practice and use student data, current research, best practices, and theory to continuously adapt instruction and achieve improved results; models these behaviors in the administrator’s own practice
- Employs strategies for responding to disagreement and dissent, constructively resolving conflict, and building consensus throughout the district/school community

- Qualifications:
- Master’s Degree from an accredited college or university
- Five years of administrative experience
- Certified Vocational Technical administrator by the Massachusetts Department of Elementary & Secondary Education (or comparable administrative licensure and CVTE teaching experience)
- Experience in building, monitoring, and administering federal and state funded programs
- Reports to:
Superintendent of Schools and Principal of New Bedford High School - Salary: $100,000 – $115,000 based on relevant experience
