Research Engineer - R&D, Bonded Abrasives

WHY DO WE NEED YOU?

The Research Engineer I will support R&D activities within the Organic Grinding Wheels (OGW) Group, part of Bonded Abrasives, located at Saint-Gobain Innovation Hub North America in Northboro, MA. This position reports to the Senior Research Engineer II.

• Sample testing and characterization
• Data analysis and interpretation
• Preparing summaries and reports for presentation to stakeholders within and outside of R&D
• Assisting in the preparation and completion of pilot production trials
• Visiting customers and vendors
• Attending field‑testing
• Assisting in the completion of studies developed by others
• Independently ideating and executing own research studies
• Assisting with the maintenance and improvement of lab operations
• Working with integrity, honesty, and in a manner that is safe to yourself and others

• BS/BA in Mechanical Engineering, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Plastics/Polymer Engineering, Materials Science, or related disciplines

• At least one year of hands‑on laboratory experience
• Familiarity with data analysis and statistical tools
• Ability to cultivate and maintain strong interpersonal relationships with team members
• Planning and organizational skills
• Ability to work and collaborate in a cross‑functional team
• Ability to innovate and solve problems
• Excellent communication skills
• Knowledge of HSE (health, safety & environment)
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs

• Industrial internship experience
• Experience with materials preparation, characterization, and testing

• Base salary $72,500 to $111,500 per year (dependent on region and experience)
• Annual bonus target 9% of base salary; total target cash range $79,025 to $121,535
