Shipper, General Labor

Responsibilities

• Perform various tasks as assigned by the Department Manager
• Maintain quality and quantity with accountability and standards
• Complete relevant documentation
• Clean and maintain equipment and work area
• Verify and record incoming and outgoing shipments
• Prepare items for shipment and compare counts, weights, and measurements against BOMs, invoices, and orders
• Determine shipping methods through the ERP system
• Assemble or select containers and pack items using spacers, fillers, and protective padding
• Apply identifying information and shipping instructions to containers and record weights and shipping charges
• Unpack and examine incoming shipments
• Record discrepancies and report them to Purchasing
• Route items to departments and store received items in the stockroom
• Direct others in preparing outgoing shipments when needed
• Perform limited pickup and delivery duties
• Manage shipping supplies and coordinate counts and reordering with Accounting and Purchasing
• Train new hires
• Follow local, state, and federal EHS regulations and Morgan New Bedford EHS Guidelines

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
• Must be a U.S. citizen, permanent resident alien, or protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3) and 22 CFR 120.15
• Ability to carry out written, oral, or diagram form instructions
• Basic math skills
• Availability to work Monday-Friday, 9:00 AM-5:30 PM
• Availability to stay later until shipments are finished
• Availability to work a minimum of one Saturday per month
• Must pass eye tests
• Ability to talk, hear, stand, walk, sit, use hands, feel, and reach with hands and arms
• Frequently lift and/or move 10-20 lbs and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 lbs
• Ability to perform duties safely while complying with EHS regulations and use proper PPE

Demonstrates proficiency in shipping and receiving processes, including verifying shipments, maintaining documentation, and adhering to EHS regulations. Capable of training new hires and managing shipping supplies effectively.
