Summary

The Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner provides each client with quality psychiatric services as deemed appropriate by the Medical Director. The Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner is a medical professional who actively supports and implements the established treatment goals and principles of the agency. This individual treats children, adolescents, and adults within the context of recognizable and sound medical standards.

SCHEDULE

Monday-Friday 8am-1pm (part-time, 25 hours per week)

Job Responsibilities & Essential Functions
  • Evaluate psychiatric, neurological, and psychopharmacological status of clients
  • Participate in the development of client diagnoses and behaviorally oriented treatment plans
  • Prescribe and supervise psychopharmacology
  • Evaluate clients for hospitalization
  • Participate in multidisciplinary team and Continuous Quality Improvement Committee
  • Develop policies and protocols for pharmacological procedures
  • Participate in planning and development of psychiatric and mental health services within a managed care framework
  • Be available for consultation when needed, to staff and other service providers
  • If applicable, provide services on CBAT and CCS to include psychiatric assessment, medication evaluations and medication management as well as contribute to the comprehensive assessment and discharge planning processes
  • Assess and refer, where appropriate, non-psychiatric health problems
  • Attend scheduled Peer Review
  • Provide training to staff
  • Must be available to work on-call within a rotating schedule
  • Maintain regular and timely attendance
  • Maintain a high quality of work at all times
  • Maintain a positive working relationship with agency staff, supervisors, and community contacts
  • Maintain a level of professionalism
  • Participate in independent education and training opportunities
  • Participate in management team meetings

All 24-hour/Acute Care Services staff are considered essential. Essential staff are defined as personnel who are expected to report to work as scheduled, regardless of holidays and/or during any emergency situation and/or agency closing (i.e. inclement weather) to ensure the ongoing operations of the program.

Due to the type of work and client needs, this position may need to work beyond a forty-hour work week. Additionally, essential staff may be required to remain on shift or work an additional shift until relief staff are available.

For overnight positions, staff are required to stay awake for the entirety of their shift.

Qualifications Required

Education and Experience

Must be licensed to practice Psychiatry in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. Must be Board Certified or Board Eligible before the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology.
